Summer Time in Sooke

Sooke is a vibrant, bustling town especially in the summer. The many pristine beaches and beautiful parks, such as Sooke flats, French beach, Ella beach, China beach, East Sooke Park, Ed Macgregor Park, just to name a few, will keep you busy the entire season. Mountain biking and cycling, which Sooke is quickly becoming a go-to location for the sport. One of the more popular cycling routes in the area is the Galloping Goose Regional Trail, which is part of the Trans-Canada trail, and runs through the Sooke area. Canada Day Events in Sooke Monday July 1, 2019

Canada Day will once again be celebrated in Sooke. Located at the Sooke river campground, there will be many family activities going all day including a parade, live music, and face painting just to name a few. There will also be many food vendors, and the night will close with a bang of fireworks at 10:00 p.m.


Medical clinic in Sooke gets $1 million for new doctors, nurses

A medical clinic with team-based care in Sooke is being expanded, with five additional doctors and nurses funded by the province.


Living in Bear Country

The black bears on our beautiful island are active from roughly April to November. This time of year, the bears are in Sooke looking for garbage and fruit trees.  Our fruit trees are ripe, and the streams are low this year.


A late spring bloom for Victoria real estate market

A total of 848 properties sold in the Victoria Real Estate Board region this May, 12.3 per cent more than the 755 properties sold in May 2018 and a 21.8 per cent increase from April 2019. Sales of condominiums were up 3 per cent from May 2018 with 244 units sold and were up from April 2019 by 20.2 per cent. Sales of single family homes were up 9.6 per cent from May 2018 with 445 sold.
